The quaint European village of Oberammergau, Germany is world renowned for the spectacular for the spectacular Passion Playperformed by its residents who have kept a 400 year old promise to reenact the crucifixion of Christ, just once every decade.  The Passion Play consist of as many as 2,000 actors, singers, musicians and technicians – all of which are residents of Oberammergau.  For 2020 we offer you a special vacation that includes the Passion Play experience!

With castles, palaces, beautiful scenery, historical sights, and cultural treats, this Globus tour to Munich, Salzburg and Vienna tour-with Oberammergau-is sure to delight all of your senses! You’ll overnight in Munich, Oberammergau, Salzburg, and Vienna, and you’ll also spend time in Innsbruck and Mondsee.

If you love castles and palaces, you’ll enjoy visiting Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. Built by King Ludwig II, this fairytale castle offers magnificent views of the Alps and was the inspiration for Walt Disney. Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna offers another treat and glimpse into the life of royalty. Modeled after France’s Palace of Versailles, you’ll receive a private visit and stand in awe as you witness the splendor and hear the stories highlighting the lifestyle of the Habsburgs, the royal family who ruled Vienna for centuries. Also enjoy a special treat-dinner and a classical music concert here.

You’ll also enjoy time in Munich, Germany’s “Secret Capital,” where you’ll visit the lively Marienplatz. Here, observe the famous glockenspiel, which re-creates a 16th-century wedding. In Salzburg, your walking tour includes the magnificent Residenz Square, where some scenes from the Sound of Music movie were filmed, and a visit to Mozart’s birthplace, where you’ll see mementos owned by him, such as his childhood violin.

But that’s not all…on this Munich, Salzburg and Vienna tour, you will enjoy some out-of-the-ordinary experiences. July 5, 2020 – Munich-Oberammergau

Germany’s “Secret Capital” comes alive during an orientation featuring the Olympic Stadium, 1,000-foot-high Olympic Tower, and MARIENPLATZ, in the historic heart of the city. A comfortable drive brings you to picturesque Oberammergau. The afternoon and evening are dedicated to the world-famous PASSION PLAY, held every 10 years and performed by the people of Oberammergau. July 6, 2020 – Oberammergau-Neuschwanstein-Innsbruck, Austria-Salzburg

Drive into the garden-like landscapes of the Bavarian Alps and visit King Ludwig’s NEUSCHWANSTEIN CASTLE, which famously inspired Walt Disney. Enjoy magnificent views of the Alps from high up, then continue to Innsbruck in the Tyrolean mountains for a walk through the quaint medieval lanes to Emperor Maximilian’s GOLDEN ROOF. Time to shop for crystal, for which Innsbruck is famous, before continuing to Mozart’s hometown of Salzburg. (B,D)

This morning, you may wish to join an optional excursion to spectacular Berchtesgaden and Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest. Back in Salzburg, follow your Local Guide for a walking tour through the historic center. Admire exquisite MIRABELL GARDENS, the Great Festival Hall, St. Peter’s Monastery, and magnificent RESIDENZ SQUARE, where some scenes of The Sound of Music movie were filmed. Also, visit MOZART’S BIRTHPLACE in the charming Getreidegasse. (B)

July 8, 2020 – Salzburg-Mondsee-Vienna

Visit the PARISH CHURCH in Mondsee, which was used for the wedding scenes in The Sound of Music. Enjoy a leisurely DANUBE CRUISE along the most scenic section of the river and have Kaffee und Kuchen (coffee and cake). Arrive in Vienna, once the center of the mighty Habsburg Empire. Tonight, you may wish to join an optional Heurigen evening. (B)

July 9, 2020 – Vienna

Guided sightseeing features a visit to BELVEDERE PALACE with its famous Klimt collection, a drive along the Ringstrasse, passing the State Opera House, and a stop at the Hofburg Palace, winter residence of the Austrian Imperial family. Marvel at the impressive courtyards, famous HELDENPLATZ, and awesome St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Time to savor Sachertorte and watch the jolly crowd in one of Vienna’s famous coffee houses, or choose from our exciting optional activities. (B)

July 10, 2020 – At Leisure in Vienna

For those who wish to “see it all,” there is a chance to join an interesting optional excursion to Bratislava, capital of Slovakia. Later, a unique feature: enjoy a private visit of SCHÖNBRUNN PALACE, followed by a farewell dinner and a classical music concert, the best way to say auf Wiedersehen, Wien. (B,D)

Price land only, based on double occupancy.  Single and triple accommodations are limited, on request and subject to availability.  Air rates will not be available until approximately 11 months prior to the return date.

Please note:  Globus GUARANTEES this rate.  Rates will NOT go up.  If for any reason rates decrease, the lower rate will be passed on to you!

Deposits

$250 per person NONREFUNDABLE deposit is due at time of booking.

An additional deposit of $350 per person NONREFUNDABLE will be due by June 15, 2019.

Final payment will be due no later than April 30, 2020.
